Uploading Files
Getting files into Pentos is quick. Your files go straight to storage over an encrypted connection, and each one is checked and scanned before anyone you share it with can open it.
How to Upload
- Upload button: Click New > Upload in the left sidebar, choose a file, give it a name and an optional description, pick Private or Public, and upload.
- Drag and drop: Drag files or whole folders from your computer onto the file list. They upload into the folder you have open, and dropped folders keep their structure.
- Zip a codebase: Drop a single
.zipof a code project to import it as a codebase folder you can open in the code editor.
A new file appears right away with a spinner while it is checked. You can open it straight away; people you share it with can open it once the check finishes, usually within a few moments.
Uploading to a Shared Folder
When you add something to a folder you have shared, Pentos tells you first: everyone the folder is shared with can see everything inside it, so they will see your new file too. Click Continue to upload or Cancel to stop.
Items you create while browsing Shared are saved to your own files instead, and you can share them from there.

A file whose contents do not match its extension is also refused. Word, Excel and PDF files are converted to text in the background so you can read, search and use them with AI.

Monitoring Your Storage
Open Settings > Data to see your storage by type (images, video, audio, documents, code and other) with Detailed, Bar and Pie views, and how much your archived files use.
What Counts
Archived files, files in the Recycle Bin and the saved versions of your files all count toward your storage until they are permanently deleted. Files that fail the security check are removed and do not count.
When You Run Out
If an upload would go over your plan’s storage, it is stopped and the upgrade window opens, showing how much space the file needs and how much you have left. To free space, permanently delete files you no longer need, including archived files and files in the Recycle Bin, or upgrade your plan.
If an Upload Is Blocked
If a file fails the security check, it is removed and you get an Upload blocked notification. Check that the file type is supported and that it is not damaged, then try again or contact Pentos Support.
