AI Personalities
AI Personalities let you adjust how the AI responds to you. Each personality changes the tone, style, and typical length of responses. You can switch personalities at any time, and they apply per message, not per conversation.
Available Personalities
| Personality | Description |

| Standard | Balanced responses with a natural conversational tone. This is the default. |
| Concise | Brief, direct answers. Gets to the point quickly with shorter responses. |
| Detailed | Comprehensive, thorough explanations. Longer responses that cover topics in depth. |
| Creative | Imaginative and expressive. Best for brainstorming, storytelling, and creative writing. |
| Educational | Teaching-oriented. Explains concepts clearly with examples, good for learning. |
| Coach | Motivational and guidance-focused. Helps you work through decisions and goals. |
| Debater | Presents counter-arguments and alternative viewpoints. Challenges your thinking constructively. |
| Health Advisor | Health-focused guidance with a careful, informative tone. It notes that it is not a medical professional and points you to urgent care when something sounds serious. |
| Coder | Code-first responses with minimal explanation. Prioritizes working code and technical precision. |
| Strategist | Decision-making focused. Analyzes trade-offs and presents structured recommendations. |
| Analyst | Data-driven and structured. Provides reasoned analysis with clear supporting logic. |
| Supportive | Empathetic and gentle. Offers encouragement and emotional support. |
Selecting a Personality
Click the Personality button in the chat input toolbar and choose the AI Personality you want. It applies to your next message and every message after it until you change it. You can change it at any point in the conversation, and each message can use a different personality.
When a chat’s Effort is set to Auto, the personality also decides how much the AI reasons. For example, Concise reasons lightly while Detailed, Coder, and Analyst reason more. See Chat Controls.
Setting a Default
Your default personality is pre-selected in every new chat. In an existing chat, Pentos pre-selects the personality from your last message.
- Open Settings and select Chats from the left sidebar.
- Open the Preferences tab.
- Under AI Preferences, click Personality and choose your default.
The change saves immediately.
