Cloud Files
The Cloud tab in Files lets you browse your Google Drive, OneDrive, Box and Dropbox files without leaving Pentos, preview media, and import any file into your Pentos Files. Cloud storage is available on paid plans.
Connecting a Service
- Open Files and click the Cloud tab in the left sidebar.
- Pick Google Drive, OneDrive, Box or Dropbox.
- Click Connect and sign in with that service.
You return to Pentos once the connection is made. The same connection is used by Connectors in chats, so a service connected in one place is ready in the other.
Browsing
Your cloud files appear in the same list and grid as your Pentos files, 24 at a time. Click a folder to open it and use the breadcrumb to go back. The Cloud tab is read-only: you can’t upload, rename, move or delete files in your cloud storage from Pentos.
Opening a File
Click a file to choose what to do:
- Images, video, audio and PDFs: Preview opens the file in Pentos without saving a copy, or Import to Pentos saves it to your Files.
- Other files: Import to Pentos saves a copy to your Files so you can open and edit it there.
- Open in Provider: opens the file in the service’s own site.
The three-dot menu on each file offers Preview, Import and Open in Provider too.
Importing
Imported files are copied into a folder named after the service, such as Google Drive, inside your Home folder. Pentos creates it the first time you import. Imported files are ordinary Pentos files: they are checked and scanned, count toward your storage, and can be edited, shared and attached like any other file.
Google’s own formats are converted when you import them:

Other Google formats, such as Forms and Drawings, can’t be imported; open them in Google instead.
Limits
- Size: files up to 5 GB can be imported.
- File types: only supported file types can be imported.
- Copies, not sync: an import is a copy. Later changes in your cloud storage are not reflected in Pentos.
- Plans: connecting and browsing cloud storage need a paid plan; on Free, Connect opens the upgrade options.
