Formatting

Pentos includes a rich text formatting toolbar that lets you style messages as you write them.

Click the Formatting button at the bottom of the chat input box to show or hide the formatting toolbar. When you edit a message, the formatting toolbar is always shown.

Available Controls

Basic Text

Bold: Emphasize important text.
Italic: Add emphasis or style.
Underline: Underline text.
Strikethrough: Cross out text.

Text Style

Normal: Standard paragraph text.
Heading 1: Large section heading.
Heading 2: Smaller sub-heading.
Subscript: Small text below the baseline (for example, H₂O).
Superscript: Small text above the baseline (for example, x²).

Lists

Bullet List: Unordered list with bullet points.
Numbered List: Ordered list with sequential numbers.

Alignment

Align Left: Align text to the left (the default).
Align Center: Center text.
Align Right: Align text to the right.

Emoji and Math

Emoji: Open the emoji picker and add emoji to your message.
Math: Open the math symbols picker to add symbols for equations. Great for academics and research.

Colors

Text Color: Change the color of selected text.
Highlight Color: Add a background highlight to selected text.

More Ways to Format

Right-click menu: Right-click in the chat input box or the editor to add a Link, Inline Code, a Codeblock, or a table (Insert Table). See Chat Objects for tables and codeblocks.
Selection menu: In the editor, select text to show a small menu with Comment, Link, and AI Assist.
Add menu: Click + in the chat input box and open Add to add a file, a table, or a codeblock.

Writing Math

Math written in LaTeX displays as a formatted equation. Wrap inline math in single dollar signs, like $E = mc^2$ , and put a standalone equation between double dollar signs, like $$ a^2 + b^2 = c^2 $$. The AI writes math this way automatically. Dollar amounts such as $54 billion stay as plain text.
