Subscription
Pentos has five plans: Free, Plus, Pro, Max, and Ultra. Every plan comes with a monthly allowance of points, which you spend on AI chats and images. You can see your plan and points, compare plans, and upgrade from Settings > Account > Subscription.
Viewing Your Plan and Points
Your points balance is always shown in the circle at the top right of the app, next to the Settings icon. Click it to see exactly how many points you have left and when more are added, with shortcuts to Manage (your plan and points packs, in Settings > Account) and Billing.
For your full plan details, open Settings > Account > Subscription. It shows your current plan, your points balance, your renewal date (or, on Free with fewer than 50 points, when they top up), and a Billing button once you have a billing account.

Every paid plan includes the same features: Connectors and Cloud Integrations, Max Mode, Max effort, Channels, starting Meetings with video, points packs, and priority support. Paid plans differ in points, storage, and log history. Everything else, including web search, Huddles, joining Meetings (audio only), your own API keys, and the same AI models as the paid plans, is available on Free.
How Points Work
- Chats: each AI response costs the model’s output price per 1M tokens, rounded to the nearest dollar, in points: a model at $10 per 1M output tokens costs 10 points, and models under $0.50 are free. The price is shown when you select a model in the model picker.
- Chat settings: some settings add points to each response on top of the model’s price. Standard Mode adds 1 point and Max Mode adds 3 (Lean Mode adds none), and Web Search and Connectors each add 1 point while they are on, even when the AI does not use them. Choosing High effort adds 1 point and Max effort adds 3; Auto adds none, whichever effort it runs. The + menu in the chat input shows each amount next to its setting, and the model picker shows the effort amounts when you hover High or Max.
- What a response cost: open the response’s Message Info and click the number beside Points to see the model’s points, each setting’s, and those of any image the AI made or edited for it.
- Images: each generated or edited image costs 2 points for every cent of the model’s price for one 1024×1024 image, rounded up to the next cent: a model at $0.04 per image costs 8 points, and models under $0.01 are free. The price is shown when you select a model in the image model picker.
- Your own API keys: messages sent with your own key never cost points, including the chat settings above, and neither do images made with it. See Bring Your Own Key.
- Stopping a response: a response you stop is charged once its answer has started to appear. Stopping while the model is still thinking or using a tool is free.
- Unused points: never expire. Each renewal adds your plan’s monthly points to what you have left, including after a switch to a lower plan. On Free, your balance is topped up to 50 points on the first of each month, and points left from a paid plan stay.
- Running low: a model that costs more points than you have left cannot be selected, and while a message would need more points than you have left, its send button shows Not enough points. Clicking it, or pressing Enter, opens the upgrade options with the reason, and nothing is sent. Turn off the settings that add points, choose a cheaper model, or upgrade. The Smart Router only picks models you can afford once your chat settings are counted, and a model that costs 0 points always works in Lean Mode with Web Search and Connectors off.
Points Packs
On Plus and above, you can buy extra points at any time: 300 points for $9, 600 for $19, or 1,500 for $49. Pack points never expire and are used after your monthly points run out. Buy them from Settings > Account > Subscription, or with Manage in the points card.
Upgrading Your Plan
To upgrade from Free:
- Open Settings > Account > Subscription.
- Click Upgrade on the plan you want.
- Complete payment on the secure Stripe checkout page.
- You return to Pentos, and your plan and points update automatically.
Changing or Canceling Your Plan
Once you are subscribed, change your plan with the plan cards in Settings > Account > Subscription. Pentos asks you to confirm each change first.
- Upgrading: takes effect at once. The new plan is billed right away, your monthly renewal date moves to today, its points are added, and your unused points carry over.
- Switching to a lower plan: takes effect on your renewal date. You keep your current plan until then, and nothing is charged now. On the renewal date, you are billed for the new plan, and its monthly points are added to your unused points.
- Canceling: click Cancel plan next to Billing. Your plan stays until your renewal date, and then your account returns to Free. You keep your unused points.
- Changing your mind: while a switch or a cancellation waits for your renewal date, click Keep on your current plan to undo it.
Click Billing to open the Stripe Customer Portal, where you can:
- View and update your payment method.
- Download invoices and billing history.
- Update billing contact information.
- Cancel your subscription.
If your card is declined when you upgrade, your plan does not change, and a notice is saved in your Updates. If a renewal payment fails, your paid features stay available for up to 30 days while Stripe retries the payment, but no new points are added until it succeeds. If it never succeeds, the subscription is canceled and your account returns to Free.
